OX HERDING POEMS

The Ox Herding Poems show the progressive steps of awareness leading closer to enlightenment. I was inspired by the long line of artists, beginning in 12th century China, who have depicted this sequence of bulls representing the steps in the realization of one's true nature.

These ten 15 x 22" monotype prints reveal the steps: looking for the ox, finding footprints, seeing the ox, catching the ox, taming the ox, riding the ox, transcending the ox, transcending the ox and self, the source, and in the world.

I made the prints at Glen Roger's Studio in Mazatlan, Mexico and at Snow Studios in Oakland. Monotype prints are unique impressions.
