Framed
Poem by Nils Peterson: Icarus Falling
must have seen clouds
that looked as if they
could catch and hold him.
Maybe he saw the Goddess
reclining on one, but that one
was looking away from his descent.
She was born out of the foam
surrounding Cronus’s genitals
cut off and tossed in the sea.
But for icarus there was no
collocation of water vapor
that could sustain him.
for his father
was just an ordinary
clever men.
