Abhaya is a Sanskrit word meaning "fearlessness."
The abhayamudra represents protection, peace,
benevolence and the dispelling of fear.

Abhaya was commissioned for Comalong, a private sculpture park in Aptos, CA. The giant hand represents the mudra of Fearlessness with a lotus mandala in the center of the palm.
I created a model of Abhaya in clay which was computer enlarged and carved in fiber glass foam. I made the sculpture to be a greeting of peace to all who entered the park.
